The legacy of the plumed serpent is associated with the aztecs' ancient god of creativity, Quetzalcoatl. The history of Quetzalcoatl​​ was formulated from the story of a King of the Toltecs who had left the city of Tula due to treacheries. However, he had promised to return one day. This story was similar to that of the king in Tollan, where the king Quetzalcoatl was betrayed by his brother and forced into exile. Therfore, the history of the plumed serpent originated from the exile of kings.
